Mykola Tomenko, the Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine informed that the adopted by the Parliament Bill on Amendments to certain Laws of Ukraine regarding the Corruption Prevention was directed to the President of Ukraine on 24 December.

 

M. Tomenko explained that the parliament was supposed to adopt certain number of issues essential for the state. Moreover, from 1 January 2010 certain laws were supposed to come into force, in particular it concerns the Law of Ukraine "On Basis of the Corruption Prevention", "On Amendments to certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine regarding the Violation for the Corruption Infringements" and the Law "On the Corruption Prevention."

 

The vice-Chairman also reminded that as a result of such voting from the 1st January following norms would not come into force: regarding the work of "the related persons"; restriction concerning presents receiving; implementation of the special check of the candidates for the office occupation towards whom, the means of specialized finance control are/were implemented etc.

 

M. Tomenko is convinced that this Law would become the double test for Viktor Yushchenko as a President. "On one hand, it is a test on the readiness to fight the corruption, on the other hand it a test to prove either the President is working with Viktor Yanukovych team or not, thus, as it is known, it was Party of Regions, that voted the most actively for the Bill adoption", - he proclaimed.

 

The Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reminded that Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc insisted on the anti-corruption bill coming into force from the 1 January, moreover, the Cabinet of Monosters suggested that the President put veto on the bill that suspended the fighting corruption till 1 April.
